I read a post on a website earlier. Someone mentioned that they killed
a slug that was in their kitchen, and acted like it was normal. I thought
it was normal too, until someone in the comments pointed out that the slug
didn't have to be killed. They could have just picked it up and put it in
the garden. It made me think. Why is violence so normalized? Why did I accept
the killing of this slug without giving it a second thought? does it even
count as killing if it's a slug? Do slugs think about stuff? do they have
families? Is one's moral killability based entirely on whether or not they
think or have a family? I have a lot to think about.
