My Grandma's Dream Diary

my grandma is quite dead now. But while she was alive, we would always share our dreams. Eventually, she started dictating them, and I would write them down for her. Here are some of these dreams, albeit edited for privacy. The 'I' and 'Me' in these is not me, the webmaster, but my grandma, who dictated these from her point of view. Text in small font is commentary by me, in which 'I' and 'Me' are actually me again. Confusing? Eh, you'll get used to it.

Character list:
Webmaster: Self-explanatory. It's me.
Mother: My mother.
Aunt: My aunt. this one, to be specific.
Aunt: My other aunt. this one.

My back hurt, like I'd been stung by a wasp. I felt around and realized there really was an animal on there. With a bit of difficulty I managed to grab it. It was a see-through plastic bug a little larger than a perforator. It had eyes that were painted blue.

(commentary: as far as I'm aware there is no standardized size for a perforator, so I really don't know how big this bug was.)

I was somewhere. Webmaster was there too. "Did you go and see them?" they asked.
"What?" I responded.
"Well, all those things we made at school."
"What things, and where?"
Someone else was there too, and they said "Well, vouchers and stuff. There are also two big bottles on Moose St." I said I was going that way anyways. I asked, "Can I go that way?" and pointed. They nodded.

I walked past a cafe with outside seating. There was nobody there. I walked towards a table and lifted up an upside-down saucer. Beneath it were a bunch of homemade-looking postal stamps. I looked around. There was a man behind me. I asked him if the stamps belonged to him.
"You could say that," he said. I looked back at the table, confused. There was an envelope on it, that hadn't been closed. It was full of many tiny, brown handwritten letters. I turned around and asked the man if these belonged to him, too.
"Yes, it's actually a continuation of what he has. You can read it if you'd like." There was suddenly another young man, the 'he' mentioned in that sentence. I opened the envelope and read the first letter. It started with,
'At the end de l'été..."

(commentary: last sentence wasn't translated, it was like that in the dream.)

I was at home, waiting for/expecting Webmaster. The doorbell rang and Webmaster entered the house.
The doorbell rang again. This time two women who lived in the street entered. (In real life I absolutely do not know them.) They immediately walked upstairs.
After a while, Webmaster asked, "What are they doing up there?"
"No idea," I responded. I walked up the stairs. One of the women was squatting with a big pair of scissors in her hands and was cutting a bath towel (my bath towel) diagonally. The other woman stood bent over her. I didn't say anything until the second woman handed the first one a kitchen towel to cut, saying "This one matches it perfectly!"
I got mad. "You're going too far now!" I yelled. The woman with the scissors laid down on the lowest shelf of a cupboard. She reached with her hand above her head and grabbed a teddy bear.

I was somewhere. It most resembled my old house, back when there were still sunrooms. Webmaster, Mother, and a friend (Named Hedwige) were in the garden downstairs, building a snowman. It most resembled the one from Animal Crossing. Dove was there too. Meanwhile, I was busy doing laundry.

Then, the three of them left. I couldn't join them yet because I still had to shower. I was finally ready to go and caught up with them, when I noticed I'd forgotten my keys. I had to go back home and ring the doorbell. Someone answered but was clearly very annoyed. I quickly grabbed my stuff and left again.

Hedwige had just gotten a home in the neighborhood. I asked her if she liked it. She said she didn't, really, but she wanted to 'take it like Aunt would'. Suddenly we were somewhere else. We had to cross a big square in the city center. It was so busy there we couldn't stand on the pavement and had to stand in the street. The light for cars turned green and Webmaster and I were suddenly standing on a really low cargo bike. "Shit," I thought. "Now we'll have to cross the street twice."

We, (I think Webmaster, Mother, Aunt and I) had to go somewhere outside of town. We had walked for a very long while already, and were at the terminus of a tramline. The trams were black with yellow accents. On a ledge above there was a circle of doors painted in all colours of the rainbow, resembling beach changing rooms. Suddenly Mother was gone. Webmaster said she probably went to the bathroom. Then she came back. "Let's go to the movies, there's a good one right now," she said. We went to a cinema that was so small our knees almost touched the wall. We had to wait for a very long time. Eventually I got so nervous I had to leave.

I was at my parents' house, and I was still young. My younger sister came in, and she announced that she had a heart disease. She said it was all because of what 'that man' had done to her, that man being my father. I tried to calm her down by saying 'as long as I'm here he can't hurt you" but while I was saying that I thought "how?". Then, my mother told me I had to leave to go to the dentist. I had to be at the dentist's by 11 AM, which was fifteen minutes away. The dentist was almost an hour away. I was pretty surprised, to say the least.

Webmaster came with me. I thought we could possibly get a taxi somewhere, but suddenly we were walking in the middle of a park. Webmaster said "Hey, you have to put this on" and gave me a thing made out of tree branches. Webmaster walked past me, towards a gate. I couldn't get the branch-thing off of me. I wanted to yell "Help me!" but I yelled so hard I woke up.

25-07-2017

Someone told me "You look terrible in that coat. You can't go outside looking like that". I looked, because I thought I was wearing that red-orange coat, but I was wearing a weird denim vest of a strange non-denim colour. I didn't want to admit they were right.

Aunt, Webmaster and I were in a waiting room that looked like the waiting room of a hospital. Someone came by with a drink cart. Aunt said she wanted half a cup of coffee. I wanted chocolate milk. When I came back, someone bumped into me, and everything fell. Aunt said "clean that up!" and I went back to the cart, at the bottom of which was a whole stack of yellow napkins. I asked if I could use one of them. The woman who worked at the cart said, "go ahead!" I grabbed a few and asked if she wanted them back. She looked confused and said, "Of course, then I can go clean them." I went back and started mopping the floor.

29-10-2017

It was the summer vacation, Webmaster was with me, and I was living in a kind of hospital building, and next to my room was another room where I thought a girl lived. We encountered Mother, and she said " Mom, you really need to go to Rotterdam to get those tickets. Leave Webmaster here with me."

So I took the train to Rotterdam. I was already on my way back when I thought, 'where did I just go? Was I in Alkmaar or Rotterdam?' but I had a ticket, so I had to have been in Rotterdam. I got out at the train station and saw my neighbour from across the street. I asked him "You probably eat vegetarian too, right?" and he said "Yes, I do that, but I can't seem to lose this," and he pointed at the cigarette in his hand. I said to him, "come, let's go home."

We went down some stairs and ended up back home. From another door someone from the apothecary walked in, holding a bottle half-full of orange juice. They asked, "Could you do some quick groceries for me?" I said, "Sorry, I have to go." to my neighbour. There was another woman next to the apothecary worker who said, "Well, I don't know, should I or shouldn't I deliver the medication? Maybe It'll make me sick!" and the other woman said "No, this man is very ill, but it's not contagious." then, I told the apothecary assistant, "But I thought you lived in that girl's room!"

(commentary: the punchline doesn't make sense in the original language either.)

I was in a house, and there were also a lot of men I didn't know, about three or so. One of them told me, "Your mother passed away." I was sitting in front of the washing machine to try and turn it on. My father was also sick, and his stuff had to be washed. Next to me, a man crouched down to help me, because I was messing around. he said, "Look, this has to be set to 25 degrees (celsius)." I put the washing machine to 25 degrees but it blocked me from starting the cycle. A screen came on, which said, "Your father passed away, and this machine doesn't wash corpses."

21-06-2018

I was at a cafe, and it kind of resembled a big waiting room with a bunch of tables and chairs. On all sides were big double doors that opened outwards. I got a cup of coffee and an almond cookie when suddenly a tumult arose. A red car was trying to drive into the cafe through the double doors. All people in the cafe ran towards it to try and stop the car. They managed to stop it and closed the doors again.

I went to go pay for my order. I had to go to a booth in a narrow hallway. At the other end of the hallway was another set of those double doors. Suddenly the doors there opened up as well and the front of the red car appeared. People ran past behind us and managed to stop the car once again. I asked "Is that the same car again?" and someone behind the booth answered "Yes." then, the booth was closed. People were starting to complain that they had to wait too long.

Meanwhile I was (with some trouble) calculating what I owed the cafe, and suddenly I couldn't find my wallet. There was also a young boy standing there with his mother. The boy was only about seven years old, and looked like he was starving. "Here, Ma'am," he said, and handed me seven cents. In response to a man who was complaining, I said, "Be happy. Now we can finally calmly talk to each other." Then I saw my wallet laying on the ground.

I had booked a hotel room. I apparently did this often, so when I entered the hotel I immediately got the key and went to my room. I showered, thought 'well I've had it with this place' and left again. I had two pairs of shoes with me, and I saw that both pairs were broken. They were both sandals. I decided to just throw them out, so I wouldn't have that mess at home. I wanted to check out of the hotel immediately, too, but I forgot.

I went home, and we all lived in a house together near to a bus stop by a windmill. I noticed I still had the hotel key. I thought maybe Aunt would enjoy a night in a hotel room. When I asked she vaguely said, "Well, I don't know, I might have something else to do tonight." I asked what, then, and she said "Something new is opening tonight, and I might want to be there when it does."

"What's being opened?" I asked.
"I don't know. That's why I want to go look." Aunt said.
I thought about returning the hotel key again, but it was too far on bicycle. My bike wasn't where I usually parked it, but inside of a grocery store. I went into thestore to get the bike, but it wasn't there, because it was at home. A neighbor walked past happily, got on her bike, and said "Well, I'm really curious!" I asked why and she responded the same way Aunt had, that something was being opened.

Mother walked outside, looking for Aunt. she asked, "Where is Aunt?" I said she was going to that opening tonight, and Mother said "That's what I hate about her. You never know what you're up against with her."

Eventually all of us went to go to the opening together. I had asked Webmaster how they would go there, and they laughed and said "by bike!".

they drove behind me, and it was a very difficult drive, and I thought they were driving against my wheel but they said they weren't. Suddenly I had a clear idea. I said, "oh Webmaster, you're on the back of my bike!" they said, "No I'm not," and covered my eyes with their hands. I couldn't see a thing. Panicked, I said "Webmaster, stop, take those hands away," and when I opened my eyes again I saw we were driving past a really steep set of stairs, really close to it. I was driving on the edge. I got so scared I woke up.

They were busy working on something at the end of the neighborhood. The ground was being prepared for building, and I saw they were taking the old foundations out of the ground. When I came back from the store, I saw they had put down massive black rocks, stacked up to resemble a sort of half-wall. I looked around me and saw a weird, dirty-looking man, who had apparently put something down there just now. Leaning against one of the rocks was a big kitchenette, that wouldn't have possibly fit into the man's car. I saw the man walk towards his little car and quickly take off the license plate. I walked towards him and said, "Sir, you're too late. I already took a picture of it."

06-10-2018

I had a job at a printing company, and it was really messy there. Danny was there too. I had made a bunch of weird small pieces of paper for business cards but also the Throne Speech, and they all had to be prepared. A man walked in, a boy, really, who looked like a sort of mix between Maurice and my neighbour. He walked towards Danny, and I thought, "That idiot is obviously taking him with him." They left to go do drugs together.

The next day I was busy trying to do everything again, but I couldn't find those pieces of paper and everyone was asking about the Throne Speech. It was chaos. Then Danny walked in, and he said, "Here, I brought you something." he threw a small rectangular piece of folded aluminium foil onto my desk. I was too afraid to tell him I had lost the Throne Speech.

Danny was in the basement and I was alone upstairs when I heard a strange noise. I walked towards it, and some machinery was on fire, and it was a huge fire. Danny walked in and said, "You could've expected this, that machine kept getting slower. Call the fire brigade." But I couldn't find the phone.

23-10-2018

This is a small piece of a dream. I was visiting Aunt for a moment, when my niece (her sister) came in. She said, "I think you arranged your house too darkly, with all that wood." I tried to defend Aunt and said that all of the houses in the neighborhood had the same wood flooring. I looked around a bit better, and saw that Aunt had a massive wooden cupboard with a lot of tiny drawers. The tiny drawers were laying loose next to the cupboard and were full of all sorts of tiny items, little toy trains, pens, that sort of thing.

I told Aunt, "Gosh, Aunt, you made a lot of cleaning progress!" I looked at her. She was lying down with her mouth open, and she was cramming all sorts of things into her mouth, like fireworks, and other things. I thought, "Now I can never leave her alone again, because if she coughs she'll die." she shook her head at me and started removing some things from her mouth.

24-10-2018

We were in the forest by the city where my older sister lives. At the edge of the forest were a bunch of smaller fields for playing sports and such. Webmaster was lying on the grass reading a magazine. They threw it across the field and looked at me. Their face was covered in freckles, including on their lips.

06-11-2018

I was sitting in the kitchen, and Mother was there too. A miniscule newborn baby boy was lying on one of the kitchen chairs. Mother asked if I couldn't take him on my lap for a moment. "Of course," I said, "This is the only child that has never sat on my lap before." I was holding a pillow in my hands, held it in front of the chair and the boy crawled onto it. When I went to sit back down, the chair behind me had been turned around and I slowly slumped down to the floor. Mother said: "It's not that bad, right, with those little clothes? He looks pretty good." Then I woke up.

09-03-2019

I was at a place where I worked and also lived, it was an office. Inside the office was an archive of love letters written by famous writers. Complaints were lodged that letters had disappeared. I went to my own room and left the door ajar. There was a woman behind a desk that had hanging files on one side and a stack of love letters on the other. I looked closer, the woman first grabbed a tissue from one side of the table and blew her nose. Then, she grabbed one of the love letters and blew her nose in that again. I thought "We can still save that heritage if we can dry those papers!". When I walked towards her she was just putting a piece of paper into a discarded milk package. A garbageman came by and immediately took all the letters away.

I was walking outside, by the tail-end of the park, where the youth care centre used to be. I saw Ponke* walking there. He was limping and looked dirty, like he had been hit by a car.

*neighborhood cat.

14-08-2019

I was in the town my older sister lives in with Webmaster. They were holding a tiny cat by a piece of rope around its neck. The cat couldn't be older than a few weeks. I thought it was really sad. Whenever the kitten wanted to look around in a garden or something they would release the rope and the cat would wander through the garden, dragging the rope behind it. A large orange cat kept following us, looking at the kitten ready to strike whenever it wandered off the street.

Suddenly a train arrived (only later did I realize it was actually a big elevator). It arrived, and a man was following behind it, running. He kept yelling "What's wrong? What's wrong?" a woman was holding her child through the door. The child looked indian. The man grabbed the child and asked, "What's going on?"

She said, "I can't take care of her. I'm missing a thumb." I walked towards them and said, "Look at my thumb*. I can still do everything I need to do. Just two days after the operation I could smile again. There are way worse things in the world." She kept crying, and I tried to comfort her. She put her head close to mine, and I pulled away from her, because I thought she was kind of gross.

Suddenly we were back with that tiny cat in the town. The cat hid away again and a woman was sitting in front of her front door. She said, in a thick Amsterdam accent, "Well, girl, I think that's pretty sad, you know. I'd like to have that cat in my home, but, yes, you know, I smoke, and that isn't healthy for him. And I'm pretty sure the government doesn't allow it." the orange cat was sitting nearby again, ready to strike.

*my grandma once had an infected thumb from a sewing accident, and they had to amputate her fingertip. She never got back full motion in that finger, but did have enough movement to grab things again.

26-10-2019

I was at a street market with Aunt. On the corner of the street was a market stall that we were looking at. An old man stood near it, and he looked a bit scary. He faced Aunt. Then, he said, "Hey, do you smoke Elfie, too?" Aunt said yes, looking almost proud. The man said, "I just got some last night. So if you can't sleep..." and he gave her a big exaggerated wink.

Aunt was suddenly gone. I saw her on the opposite side of the street. She was talking into her phone, and that man was talking into his phone simultaneously.

03-12-2019

There was a ship in a large nearby body of water. The ship was called the Wickie. We (myself, Webmaster, Aunt) went there often, which we did by swimming there.

I couldn't find my shag (tobacco). I wanted to go have a cup of coffee somewhere, and ended up in a cafe where, among others, was a group of Moroccans. One of them was a girl, and every time she tried to talk to someone a man would go stand in between them to make sure she couldn't. I asked her if she was okay and the man came to stand between us with his arms wide. He said it wasn't important. He told me that it would only take a bit longer until it would be legal for him to date her.

There was a funeral, but only four people showed up. The cafe had a bunch of pie and cake prepared but we were too afraid to touch any of it. Aunt was there too. Eventually all the people from the funeral came back, and we finally mustered up the courage to take a slice of cake. I wanted to smoke a cigarette but noticed that my packet of shag was almost empty. I thought, 'hey, Aunt again, of course," I thought, because she smokes 40 grams and I smoke 50. I looked at the package and it was 35 grams, which was almost empty.

We left, but I wanted to go by the Wickie first. On our way back we passed a whole bunch of people, including a young couple with a baby carriage. I first thought the person pushing the carriage was a young boy, but it was actually just a very short woman. Suddenly a baby crawled out from underneath the blankets, crawled up to the woman and opened her shirt, finally showing me that she was, indeed, a woman. The baby said "Hello," grabbed the woman's breast and started drinking from it. I was happy that my children were better behaved growing up.

We jumped in the water, on our way to the Wickie. The space it normally was at was empty. A big event was going on so all boats were moved in advance. Webmaster had disappeared, and i assumed they were looking up where the Wickie was now. In the meantime, I walked back home to go sit on a terrace outside somewhere. Then I heard someone yelling "Grandma!" I woke up, it had been Zira*. when I looked at the clock it was 2.20 PM. Webmaster was downstairs and I told them "You forgot to wake me!" they said "It isn't even 2 PM yet!" They were right. I hadn't changed the clock upstairs for daytime savings yet.

*one of the cats we used to own (I don't think she actually said 'grandma' as she was (and is) a cat, but I'll leave it up to interpretation.) also, I know the ending wasn't technically a dream, but it was in the diary and I thought it was sweet. so. there.

10-12-2019

This dream was about our street. I was at home, and Webmaster and Aunt were there, and there was a small amount of dishes that had to be done. I said, a bit cynically, "oh, you guys thought 'we won't touch the dishes, grandma will take care of those!'" I was annoyed.

The doorbell rang. I opened the door and just saw two adult men running away. I walked back inside, and Aunt said "That happened to me too, yesterday." then she said, "I did some work at number 9. Something has to be thrown out, but it was too heavy to carry." I said, "Well, I'll go there later."

I went out onto the street, and walked to number 9, rang the doorbell and looked at the number above the door. it was 11. I said, "Oh no, this is the wrong house!" but someone was already opening the door, a tiny old man. He said, "Yesterday three adult men came to my door, they said they were from a political party. But I said, I won't let anyone tell me what to think. and then they ran away. I called the police."

I walked to number nine. There was a bike parked in front of the window. Suddenly Mary (a neighbour) was standing next to me. She said "Do you know the Hoevelaken-Lamaker family?" I said "No?" She said, laughing "Well, that's me!" I said "So, then your mother's name must be Hoevelaken." she said, "Heavens, no."

I entered number nine (I had the keys) and nobody was home. There were some dirty dishes. I thought, 'well, I'll do the dishes first'. I went outside. Behind the garden was a pond. Inside the pond was a kind of small wooden raft made out of two planks. They weren't identical horizontally. On the back plank there was a bit of moisture. "Oh," Mary said, "That's cola."

I grabbed a mop and started mopping up the liquid, but it just kept coming back. Meanwhile I kept hearing a cat meowing. Then I told Mary, "I'm stopping, it's not cola, the plank is just underwater!"

16-12-2019

I had requested historical material at a museum, and because they couldn't give me the original files, they'd made copies. I received a thick stack of paper inside of a folder.

I took a few pieces of paper out of the folder and took a better look at them. One of them was a copy of a postcard that a woman from Amsterdam who was born in 1898 had sent to an Egyptian sailor somewhere during the 1920s. In the postcard, she wrote about her respect for the Egyptian culture, which she knew about because she had recently gone to Egypt during her vacation. I thought, "Mother will find this interesting" I thought I put the papers back securely but suddenly the wind started blowing and several of the papers blew away into the air, crossing a highway. I must've done something wrong.

I ran after them. I tried to pick up a piece of paper but every time I almost had it it blew further away again. I was dead tired and went into a kind of cafe where everything was on sale. You could grab whatever you wanted, but you had to make i yourself. They also had ice cream. I took a really big spoonful of ice cream but didn't know what to do with it, so I put it somewhere in the bottom part of a cupboard.

I decided to just leave. Suddenly I was wearing a bikini and walking past the gas station. People were staring at me. I went home and went to bed. My bed was in front of an open window. I thought, annoyed, "This way everyone can look inside."

12-02-2020

The floor in my living room had to be replaced. Before it could be replaced, I had to take a piece of it out myself. I started cutting into the floor with a knife but soon realized that instead of wooden planks, the living room floor was made out of a strange kind of temporary plastic. I saw my mother cleaning the wooden floor in the kitchen, sitting on her hands and knees. I found it annoying that she did it that way instead of just using a mop.

I'd already cut a kind of envelope into the floor when I noticed it wasn't really necessary. I tried to fold it back down but couldn't manage it. I looked a bit better and saw there was a deep hole in the middle of the living room. Inside the hole was dirty water that was bubbling. I thought, "That's probably from upstairs". Upstairs above me lived a man called Joop, so I would have to go and ask him about it.

I walked upstairs and knocked. A tall, intimidating man opened the door. "What the hell is going on here?" He asked. I started to explain, and said, "...so I thought you might've had a bit of an accident with the drain, and if that was the case you would maybe be able to help clean downstairs." Inside the house was a woman with a baby, sitting on the floor. "Well," she said, "it's best if we confess. It's true, we did have an accident." Meanwhile, the room was already filling up with about 10 CM of dirty water.

20-02-2020

I was inside, doing stuff, and saw a faraway lamp that was on. A man walked in, and he was annoyed. He pointed at the lamp and said, "Typical case of throughman". By this, he meant that the lamp was on without reason. Then, he turned the lamp off.

(commentary: we quoted this often after the dream. So good. It was even funnier in the original language. 'typisch een geval van doormannetje'.)

30-03-2020

This was a dream about cats, and there was one cat I didn't really remember the name or appearance of, but I remembered exactly that I used to own him. I had a lot of memories about it, too, about how we used to walk near the park by the market, where there was a dry ditch full of autumn leaves. Often the cat would play around in those leaves, and it felt painful that I didn't remember his name. After the playing, I'd call for the cat, and we would happily walk home together.

One day, he didn't come home anymore. I'd almost completely forgotten him, when suddenly I had a flashback to him. I thought, "I have to know what happened to that cat!" I asked everyone I saw if they had seen the cat. Eventually, someone said, "Oh, yes, I know. He lives with Kuti now, he has a car dealership by the park." I went there and saw that the cat was happy and being treated well. He had a new name. I still don't know what his name was.

13-05-2020

This was a short one. I was walking on the street. I didn't feel well. I met some acquaintances, who asked "How are you?" I said "Not so good, right now." Then the people said, and it was suddenly a lot of them, "Well, that's because you drink so much." I was offended. Until then, I hadn't noticed I was walking around carrying a half-full bottle of wine.

25-05-2020

We were at the campsite. Aunt was there too. She was bald, and nobody (not Aunt, either) had any issues with it. When we were all sitting together in the evening, I said, "Oh Aunt, you have a bunch of sand on your head!" she said, surprised, "Me? Sand on my head?" she grasped at her head and removed a burp cloth from it.

16-07-2020

I didn't know what we should have for dinner. Someone told me to go buy a cauliflower. I went to a store and bought a cauliflower. I ate a piece of it, and eventually I'd eaten the whole thing raw, still standing in the store. I panicked, and had even less of a clue what we had to have for dinner now.

01-08-2020

We were in some kind of big hall. To be there, you had to have a ticket. In the corner was a woman, sitting behind a stall and selling things. She said, "You people are discriminating." I assumed she meant that we had tickets and she didn't, and I was willing to go over and give her my ticket. I went over to her and asked what she meant. She said "You people are discriminating just because I'm Chinese." I looked at her, confused. I hadn't even noticed she was Chinese, because she was wearing a full face of face paint. I didn't know what to respond.

09-09-2020

I was outside and saw someone swimming. After a while I no longer saw her head and I went to the waterside. There was a woman's body floating there, head down, in the water. A few meters in front of me she sunk down, and turned around in the process. I saw she was smiling. I thought, "Oh Jesus, the water is so cold," but I knew I had to do something. I went into the water and it was warm. I pulled her to the land and managed to push her up onto land, and there she just stood up. She walked into the kitchen. I gave her a towel to dry herself. She sat in the kitchen, eating, and after a short while she said, "Well, bye, I have to go home now," and she left.

14-10-2020

I had to go to the doctor. There were two things, one was the flu shot, and there was something else but I don't remember what it was. On the way there, there kept being a girl, dressed in all white (white shirt, white skirt and white gloves) and she kept cutting in line just in front of me, wherever I was. When I got to the doctor's office, that girl in white was there again, and there were more people. Then the doctor came in, and the girl tried to cut in line again, but the Doctor came to me. I suddenly realized that he was mayor Aboutaleb of Rotterdam. He looked at me and said, "I only know one Mrs. Deposit". I remembered suddenly that I once wrote him a nice note on a Proof Of Deposit note.

"What are you here for?" he asked. I was completely confused, and said, "Well, I'm here for the flu shot, at least." He took a large injection needle with a really long needle and stabbed it into my shoulder, above my shoulder blade. I saw everything happen like it was someone else's shoulder. Then, I woke up.

I was in the street I grew up in, and there was a neighbour woman who said she was sick. I asked her, "Will you be okay with the food?" and she replied "yes." I said "Okay," and went home. There were Mother and Godmother, and they were teenagers, giggling together. I said, "Listen up, there are still groceries that need to be done, and the neighbor is sick. And there's still a lot that has to be done here, too." But they went upstairs, up a really narrow, high-up couple of stairs, and I went after them. I was so mad I thought I was going to kick in the door. I knocked on the door and behind it they had a big room where they were building huts. Suddenly Bernard* ran past my legs and inside. Godmother yelled, "Get rid of that cat, I'm allergic." I very carefully picked up Bernard and put him outside the room. I reassured him, "It's nothing personal, she's just allergic."

*one of the cats we used to have.

I had some DVDs or CDs of a character, she was a girl with long, smooth hair. I didn't know her, but told Mother I had some DVDs of that girl, and she said "Oh, I want those!" I thought, "Webmaster probably won't find those interesting at all." I looked at one of the DVDs and saw it was an episode where the woman was getting married to her own mother. There was an image of the girl, who was really short in contrast to her tall mother, and they were in the church, getting married. I thought, "Oh, maybe Webmaster will find this interesting after all."

(commentary: what? what does this mean?)

Mother's husband was some kind of world traveler, and he had decided to visit Mother again, for a change. This all happened in my house, which was really big and everyone had their own room, every family member, but Mother's husband too. Mother's husband walked in, and he immediately started giving critique and commentary on everything and started to argue with people. Then Yolanda* visited and he invited her to his room, and we heard yelling, and Yolanda left the room covered in bruises. I left the house for a moment, and when I came back, a hand-written note had been pasted on the mailbox. On that note was written, in big letters: "Yolanda has been murdered by Thomas Zeijs**." A woman came to stand next to me, and she said, sniffling, "Yolanda was supposed to be a play-aunt for my children. And now look at what happened."

*neighbor.
**not my mom's husband's name.

I was in a kind of Cafe-like room, and I heard something bad had happened to Danny. He walked in and sat down behind the bar, and the bar was a kind of mix between a bar and an office desk. He looked very ill. I was afraid to go to him, and walked with some people outside to a kind of terrace. The people began talking about intimate business, and I felt incredibly out-of-place and like I was intruding. I asked, "This here is a public space, right?" and they looked at me, angrily, and said "No, this is private." I walked back inside and wanted to go comfort Danny, but he looked so sad and lonely I was afraid to go to him.

I was on a small square that's on the road to the store. I was picking up my bike, which I had parked there. My bicycle's front light was attached to a piece of thread that was stuck to a balcony on the second floor of a building. I could vaguely remember that I'd put it there before people moved into the house.

I rang the doorbell, and there was a woman there, lying in bed, and her husband was there too, and they also had kids. The woman said that she was disabled, and that was why she was in bed. I explained that my bike was attached to their house and she said she'd have to discuss it with her husband.

The next day I was there again, and the woman was gone. I asked her husband where she was, and he said she was in the attic, but I could talk to her through a screen. There was a screen hanging on the wall, and on her side she would be able to see me. But on my side of the screen I only saw a soccer game. So we talked to each other through the screen, while I looked at the soccer game in confusion. By the time I woke up I still hadn't retrieved my bike.

I had a neighbor at number 18 who was an Opera singer, but she only had a head and no body. I talked with her often, and during those talks I had to hold her head at eye level because she didn't have a body.

There were people cooking in my house, in an old aluminium pan with a red lid. They were making fries that were as thin as noodles. It was burned, and at first I was mad that they hadn't cleaned the pan, but when I tasted a fry it tasted really good.

There was a half-chinese girl, who I saw laugh, and she was so pretty I almost fell in love with her. I wanted to talk to her, but I thought she only spoke Spanish. But when I spoke to her in Spanish, she started laughing.
